FULL VERSION:
Jim Breese is one of the most exciting DJ talents emerging from the UK club scene. He is currently headlining the worlds greatest clubs as resident DJ for the iconic Hed Kandi brand, where he is well versed in main room, rocking House sets. His recent Hed Kandi CD release: ‘World Series Live: San Francisco’ saw Jim travel to what is widely accepted to be the coolest of the US cities, in order to record an 80-minute ‘DJ Mix’ from the Supperclub DJ Booth- a further validation of his peak time club sound.
In 2009, upon the launch of Hed Kandi America; the brand’s stateside division, Jim was relocated to the mother of all cities: New York. With a rising American fan base, he toured the length of the country, finishing in Las Vegas by launching their USA flagship residency.
Though beyond the dance floor, there is a love of alternative, forward thinking genres including Balearic Disco and Deep House- influenced by his high profile, international residencies across the globe. From three-years at the legendary Cafe Mambo in Ibiza- perfecting the art of the sunset, to the hedonistic parties at Ku De Ta in the Indonesian paradise of Bali. Such variety necessitates a diverse music policy, so it’s no wonder that Hed Kandi enlist his help in co-compiling several of their renowned and eclectic compilations- Serve Chilled, Nu Cool, Kandi Lounge, Nu Disco and Beach House. This wide-ranging style is also present in his weekly radio show- ‘Balearic Boudoir,’ broadcast on Ibiza Sonica and Ministry of Sound Radio, as well as a monthly ‘Nu Cool Guest Mix’ for the Galaxy Radio Network.
2008 saw appearances far and wide, including the infamous ‘White Party Closing’ at Kiwi Bar in Brazil, World Series in San Francisco, Ku De Ta’s intergalactic themed ‘Space Invaders Party’ in Bali, headlining to 10,000 Russian clubbers at the Astrakhan Birthday celebrations, Hed Kandi’s glamorous closing weekend in Ibiza, regular appearances at Superclubs across Europe including: Holland, Germany, Italy, Spain, France and the Greek Islands, plus of course so many in the UK. A challenge he revels in and puts to good use at his myriad weekly residencies such as Match Bar in London.
In 2001, Jim became resident DJ at Café Mambo in Ibiza, acknowledged as the most important and influential clubbing-bar on earth. He would spin for eight hours each and every day, May until October, playing daytime sets, night time sets, and of course enjoying the endless Sunset quest, that Holy Grail of Ibiza DJing.
Mambo and the adjacent Café Del Mar are the focal point for the thousands who gather on Ibiza's 'Sunset Strip' each evening, determined to enjoy the communal spectacle as sun descends into the Mediterranean Sea. It's a magical, emotional moment, one that for three long summers was further enhanced by Jim's seamlessly chilled and dramatic musical soundtracks.
After sunset the club freaks emerge, joined at Mambo by virtually every international DJ of note - Jim played host each night to legends such as Sanchez, Axwell, Morillo, and Tong- all of whom played weekly, then there were the countless guests! Naturally Jim learnt so much from sharing his booth.
In 2003 he played at MTV Aquasonic, Ibiza's largest open-air festival, plus debuted on BBC Radio 1 with a live 'Sunset Guest Mix' on Pete Tong's Essential Selection - the most popular and acclaimed dance music show on British radio.
The winter saw Jim busy with the Cafe Mambo World Tour, exporting his trademark sound extensively across South East Asia and Australia. One set in the Indonesian paradise of Bali led to Jim being offered the 2004 summer DJ residency at the magical Ku De Ta beach club, as well as hosting his own Hero night at the Double Six super-club.
2005 saw Jim Breese further in demand across the globe, traveling to some of the best international club destinations - Ibiza, Moscow, Copenhagen, Bali... and the UK of course. And to top off another successful year, he was handpicked to play for the hugely popular and world-acclaimed Hed Kandi brand, part of the Ministry of Sound empire.
Jim Breese has always been a DJ talent to watch, so now that he's fully 'arrived' look out for him at a dark, pulsing room near you soon!
